- The Fifth Annual International Bagpipe Conference is being held at Harvard University, March 13-14, and includes evening concerts. From organizer Panayotis (Paddy) League:
“This is first time that the International Bagpipe Organisation is holding our biannual conference in North America (previous iterations have been in London, Glasgow, and Mallorca), and we’re thrilled to be bringing the joyful noise to the fair city of Cambridge. I’m writing to let you know that we’ll be hosting a few events that may be of interest to you AND are scheduled at times complementary to your conference’s program.
On Friday night, March 13, we have our Bagpipes of the World concert at Harvard’s historic Paine Hall, featuring pipes and pipers from France, Spain, Austria, Brittany, Greece, Ireland, and Scotland. Tickets are quite reasonable ($10 for students!), and can be purchased via the Harvard Box office here.
On Saturday night, March 14, we’ll be hosting a curated bring-your-own bagpipe session at The Bebop (1116 Boylston Street).
And on Sunday, March 15, we’ll have a participatory social dance with instruction in Irish, Breton, and Greek/Balkan dances with VERY live music.
More information and tickets are available here.”
